On Your Feet Day
Today, Friday 26th April, is officially ‘On Your Feet Day.’ On Your Feet Day is a national celebration which aims to get people across Britain united to participate in a variety of fun and simple activities whilst at work; ultimately making us #SitLess and #MoveMore.
When we think about Diabetes and Heart Disease, it seems that the majority of us think of two separate conditions. However, did you know that if you have diabetes you are more likely to develop heart disease and you have a greater chance of a heart attack or a stroke. That’s because people with diabetes are more likely to have certain risk factors such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
So, if you have diabetes (or know some one who has), there are a number of things that can be done and, understanding the connection between these diseases is a great first step towards prevention.
Stress Awareness Month starts in just two weeks. It runs from the 1st until the 30th of April 2019. Have you made plans to raise awareness of the importance of stress management in your organisation or perhaps in your household; even with your friends and family?

A Modern Epidemic
We can no longer hide from the effects of stress in the workplace. It is increasingly referred to as a ‘modern epidemic.’ Recent statistics show that over 11 million days are lost at work a year because of stress at work and according to the Health and Safety Executive HSE, in 2017/18 595,000 people in the UK reported work-related stress at a level they believed was making them ill.
We all encounter workplace related stress at some point in our lives. It is a natural and normal human reaction. However, the difference between letting stress overwhelm you and you coping with it – even thriving on it – can be vital.
When you begin to truly believe in the physical and emotional wellbeing of your staff, it can completely transform the face of your business.
Even though workplace health and wellbeing is moving up the corporate agenda, many businesses still struggle with where to start and also with the time it takes to create and manage a programme. In spite of the tangible benefits in looking after your most important asset (your staff) including lower absence rates, increased productivity and improved employee engagement; feedback says TIME is the biggest barrier to progress when is comes to wellbeing programmes.
