National Fitness Day: Move More with Tonic

Wednesday 23rd September is National Fitness Day; a day dedicated to highlighting the role of physical activity and helping us raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier and more active lifestyles.

National Fitness Day aims to break down the barriers that prevent people building activity into their daily lives and show that “fitness” is for everyone in some way shape or form. This is something the Tonic Team have been promoting for years and is why we are making it our prerogative to share this powerful message….

Do You KNOW Your NUMBERS?

Monday 7th to Sunday 13th September is ‘Know Your Numbers Week;’ sevens days dedicated to raising awareness around blood pressure (BP) numbers, and encouraging us to take the necessary action to reach and maintain a healthy blood pressure. Know Your Numbers week is the UK’s biggest and most far reaching blood pressure event and awareness week, something we have always supported but have also championed every month of the year as part of our employee well@work health checks.

Men’s Health Week with Tonic

This week is Men’s Health Week. It runs for seven days every June and aims to raise awareness of the health issues that affect men disproportionately. It focuses on getting men to become more aware of health problems they may have or could develop, and gain the courage to take action!

Unsurprisingly, this year’s theme relates to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and is to ‘TAKE ACTION ON COVID-19.’ Using the brilliant information readily available on men’s health, and what our team of experts at Tonic knows, we have put together our guide on supporting Men’s health this June and, for good.

Mental Health- We all have it!

This week, 18th – 24th May is Mental Health Awareness Week.  Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, every year Mental Health Awareness Week aims to raise awareness around the stigma of mental health and encourage more people to open up about their thoughts, anxieties and worries.

Whilst mental health is and should always be an important topic, with more people feeling isolated, lonely and insecure due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we think that we need to support each other now and in the post-normal world, more than ever. And Tonic can help…

The Health Benefits of Walking More …

When it comes to walking more or taking part in physical activity, it’s like marmite; you either love it or you hate it. For some, exercise is an essential part of the day. It is great for boosting energy levels and relieving stress. Whereas for others, its a time to fear and constantly put off – even the thought of walking for longer than a few minutes is filled with dread!

May is National Walking Month (thirty-one days dedicated to getting us to move more and sit less), and it is perhaps more important right now than ever. So whether you are a reluctant exerciser or some one who is desperate to get back to the gym – walking more is something you should be doing right now.

Working Together to Maintain Positive Mental Health

One of the huge benefits of working at a company like Tonic Health & Wellbeing Experts, is that we have the privilege (and vision) to work with individuals who share the same passion as we do. This means our guidance and interventions are supported by a team of specialists and experts across all pillars of wellbeing.

Today our focus is Positive Mental Health. We know how important it is to work towards maintaining a positive mental health at all times but during the Coronavirus pandemic, this focus needs to be heightened. That’s why we are delighted to share with you some top tips from our Mental Health Trainer Msc, Elaine Woodward.

TONIC’S HEATHLY TIPS FOR WORKING FROM HOME

As we near the end of the second week of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, for many of us it is also the second week of working from home. And whilst a good portion of the work we are doing remains the same, our workplace surrounding has changed drastically. Some of us may have adapted to our new workplaces well, however for others it has proven more difficult.

Why Workplace Wellbeing Programmes are so Important Today

In general, December is a good time for morale; everybody in the office is on a high! Employees are looking forward to their Christmas party; to recognition and rewards from their managers and then breaking up for the festivities. How do we prolong this though? How do companies ensure those feel-good emotions and positivity continue for the other 11 months of the year?  Concrete research and evidence shows that workplace wellbeing programmes are not only welcomed, but they are highly sought after and desired. We go one step further at Tonic and say a wellbeing programme should be embedded in to every company that is striving to attract, engage and retain talent!

Movember: Men’s Health Awareness Month

November, or more commonly referred to as Movember, is Men’s Health Awareness Month. During the 30 days, men commonly grow a moustache to help raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, especially prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
