Wellbeing and health are topics that are often overlooked by men. The average man pays less attention to his health than the average woman. It is true!
Compared to women, men are more likely to:
- Drink alcohol
- Use tobacco
- Make risky choices
- Not see a doctor or have regular check-ups
Men’s Health Week always begins on the Monday before Father’s Day and ends on Father’s Day itself. During 2022, it will run from Monday 13th until Sunday 19th June.
This is a great time to bring awareness to health issues that affect men disproportionately and focuses on getting men to become aware of problems they may have or could develop, and gain the courage to do something about it

Did you know…. 1/5 men die before retirement age and 2/5 die before the age of 75.
The main causes of this are:
- Cancer
- Heart and lung disease
Most of these are both treatable and preventable!
Did you know … 78% of deaths by suicide are male!
Society (has traditionally) expected men to behave in a certain way including being strong and not talking about their emotions and struggles.
It is time for this to change! Our toolkits, counselling and workshops provide solutions; a forum to meet and talk, and a plethora of resources to get support. By including in the workplace wellbeing agenda employers really can make a difference, and we can save lives.
The problem is that men frequently don’t prioritise their physical or mental health. They are reluctant to present to medical / professional services i.e. the ‘head in the sand’ phenomena. Let us make sure this is not you and your workforce!
