More Than a Building: Why Clyde Gateway Chose Tonic to Bring Workplace Wellbeing On-Site

| Becca Clayton

Creating great workplaces is about more than offices, meeting rooms and facilities. Increasingly, organisations are recognising that the wellbeing of the people who use those spaces plays a vital role in creating thriving workplace communities.

For Clyde Gateway, one of Scotland’s leading regeneration organisations, supporting tenant wellbeing has become an important part of the wider workplace experience. Through a partnership with Tonic, they have introduced on-site Health Checks and Massage Reward Days that make wellbeing accessible, convenient and engaging for the people working across their buildings.

To learn more about the impact of workplace wellbeing, we spoke to the Clyde Gateway team about why they introduced on-site health initiatives, how tenants have responded, and the value they have seen from partnering with Tonic.

“Regeneration is about people as much as places”

Tonic: Clyde Gateway is about much more than buildings. Where does wellbeing fit into your wider regeneration story?

Clyde Gateway: Regeneration is ultimately about people as much as it is about places. While improving buildings and environments is important, creating opportunities that support health, wellbeing and connection is equally valuable.

We believe wellbeing is an important part of creating positive workplaces for the people who spend time within our buildings. Creating great places to work means helping people feel supported, valued and able to thrive.

Making Wellbeing Easy and Accessible

Tonic: What led you to bring Tonic into Clyde Gateway?

Clyde Gateway: We wanted to provide our tenants with something that was practical, accessible and genuinely beneficial. Too often, wellbeing initiatives require people to find additional time outside of work, which can make participation more difficult.

What appealed to us about Tonic was the ability to bring wellbeing directly into our buildings. Whether it’s an on-site Health Check or a Massage Reward Day, people can take part without disrupting their day. It makes wellbeing simple, convenient and available to everyone.

The combination of services also meant there was something to suit different needs, whether someone wanted to gain a better understanding of their health or simply take a well-earned break during a busy working day.

Why Are On-Site Health Checks So Valuable?

Tonic: What do you think makes on-site Health Checks particularly effective?

Clyde Gateway: Convenience is a huge factor. Health Checks give people the opportunity to focus on their wellbeing without needing to arrange appointments elsewhere or take additional time out of their day.

By bringing the service directly into the workplace, many of the barriers that prevent people from engaging with preventative health initiatives are removed. People can access valuable health information, gain insights into their wellbeing and take positive steps towards looking after themselves, all within their working day.

For employers and workplace providers, it’s a simple way to demonstrate a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing while making support easily available when people need it.

A Service People Genuinely Look Forward To

Tonic: How have tenants responded?

Clyde Gateway: The response has been fantastic. Sessions are consistently very popular and regularly become fully booked or even oversubscribed, which demonstrates how much people value the service.

What has been particularly encouraging is the enthusiasm whenever new sessions are announced. People actively look out for opportunities to book, and many return time and again. It has become a valued part of the tenant experience rather than simply a one-off wellbeing initiative.

When people ask when the next session is happening, you know you’re delivering something that genuinely makes a difference.

More Than Just a Workplace

Tonic: What does Tonic add to the overall tenant experience?

Clyde Gateway: We want our buildings to be more than somewhere people simply come to work. Workplace wellbeing initiatives help create a more positive, engaging and supportive environment for everyone using the space.

Having Health Checks and Massage Reward Days available on-site gives people access to valuable services they may not otherwise have during the working week. Something as simple as taking time out for a massage or completing a health assessment can make a real difference, especially when it’s so accessible.

It adds another dimension to what we can offer tenants and reinforces the message that wellbeing matters.

The Role of Wellbeing in the Modern Workplace

Tonic: Do you believe wellbeing initiatives can make workplaces more attractive?

Clyde Gateway: Absolutely.

People’s expectations of the workplace have changed significantly. Increasingly, employees value environments that support not only productivity but also their overall wellbeing and experience at work.

Providing wellbeing opportunities helps create workplaces that people genuinely want to be part of. It can also help build a stronger sense of community, bringing people together through shared experiences that sit outside of their day-to-day responsibilities.

As organisations continue to encourage office attendance and create positive workplace cultures, wellbeing has become an important part of the overall employee experience.

Why Clyde Gateway Continues to Work With Tonic

Tonic:Tonic: Finally, why Tonic?

Clyde Gateway: One of the biggest benefits is the simplicity of working together. The Tonic team are professional, approachable and flexible, making it easy for us to offer wellbeing initiatives across our buildings.

They take care of the delivery and logistics, allowing us to focus on promoting the sessions to our tenants. The popularity of the services and the demand whenever Tonic returns really speaks for itself.

The feedback has been consistently positive and the service has become something that people genuinely look forward to.

What Clyde Gateway Had to Say

“Tonic has been a fantastic addition to the tenant experience across our buildings. They make it so easy for us to bring wellbeing directly into the workplace, and the response from our tenants has been consistently brilliant. The sessions are always in high demand, and it’s great to see people taking the time out of their working day to look after their health and wellbeing. For me, it’s another way we can create workplaces that are about more than just the building – they’re about the people who use them.”
