National Fitness Day: Move More with Tonic
Wednesday 23rd September is National Fitness Day; a day dedicated to highlighting the role of physical activity and helping us raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier and more active lifestyles.
National Fitness Day aims to break down the barriers that prevent people building activity into their daily lives and show that “fitness” is for everyone in some way shape or form. This is something the Tonic Team have been promoting for years and is why we are making it our prerogative to share this powerful message….
Exercise has powerful effects on both our body and our mind
Whether you are already a fitness enthusiast or completely new to the world of exercise, the benefits are endless and now is a good a time to start. While you are feeling that burn, you may also feel like you want to be literally anywhere other than the gym, but your body is thanking you the whole time! It is important to always remember to be safe and that SMALL STEPS LEAD TO BIG CHANGES
Tonic Founder Becca says:
“Sometimes a workout is all you need. The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen!”

Last month the Government launched their brand new ‘Better Health‘ campaign in order to encourage the people of the UK to lose weight and live healthier lives. Their new campaign comes after research suggests that being obese or excessively overweight puts us at a greater risk of serious illness or death, including from COVID-19.
There is a long list of long-term health conditions associated with obesity. Here is a hard-hitting overview of the many benefits you can enjoy as you become more active….

MOVING MORE AT WORK
DID YOU KNOW: Working adults spend a third of their waking hours in work which means our workplaces and work time (if remote working) are key spaces (and times) for improving wellbeing and increasing our activity levels!
Since March, and the start of COVID-19 pandemic many of us are working at home more and sitting down much more than we usually do. This in turn means it has been hard for us to maintain our activity levels. Also, our routines and habits have changed; getting back into a “new norm” and new routines is even harder as some of the challenges linked to exercise remain.
It is even harder for people who are not motivated to engage in exercise, but try to remember at a time like this it is even more important for people of all ages and abilities to be as active as possible, for BOTH our mental and physical health!
Take a look at our MOVE MORE SIT LESS PDF HERE and start to enjoy some of the unexpected ways working out can benefit your mental health, improve your relationships, and help you lead a healthier and happier life. REMEMBER: Even by taking short breaks from sitting, by doing 3-4 minutes of light intensity physical movement, such as walking or stretching, will help ease your muscles, boost metabolism, improve blood circulation and muscle activity.
